Mildred B Cooper Chapel Reminiscent Impasto is a fine art print showcasing a unique editing style to give the impression of impasto brush strokes as is typically achieved in oil painting. The Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel is located in Bella Vista, Arkansas, and was designed by architect, E. Fay Jones and Maurice Jennings. E. Fay Jones apprenticed with Frank Lloyd Wright learning the affect of large windows opening to the world outside to emphasize the perfect marriage between architecture and nature. Jones used 31 tons of steel and 4,460 square feet of glass to create a series of tall, vertical Gothic arches that run the length of the chapel. Though it looks like an open-air structure, the chapel is glass-enclosed and air conditioned.
The chapel was commissioned by John A. Cooper, Sr. to honor Mildred Borum Cooper, his late wife. The chapel was designed to celebrate both God and his creations.
The Mildred B. Cooper Memorial Chapel sits on a wooded landscape along Lake Norwood and boasts the quiet serene atmosphere as if you just walked into a mystical land. Because the Chapel's structure is transparent, the light creates an every changing pattern of light and shadow influenced by nature's season.

Since moving to Arkansas, I instantly fell in love with the Mildred B. Chapel and knew I had to photograph it.
On this particular day, I took my 2 daughters along for the experience. As we stood before the chapel, my 7 year old daughter Rose said, "Mom, it is almost like a magical fairly land. It is so peaceful here, I never want to leave."
When I got home, I kept thinking about how that moment impacted my daughter. And she was absolutely right. Standing there, in that moment, in the early morning hours with the sun slowly climbing over the horizon, was pure magic. We were in complete seclusion in the forest. The nectar of the flora whispered to our scenes, the gentle breeze kiss our cheeks, the songbirds imparted their secrets to our ears. The cool humidity in the air skittered across our skin. It was completely transcendent.
I wanted to create a piece that conveyed this magic. My traditional photographic style usually doesn't include a lot of editing, because I prefer most of my art to showcase the natural beauty of the world as you would find it if you were standing there right with me in that moment.
But on rare occasions, there are moments, experiences, and locations that are so enchanting that it can't be conveyed in an ordinary photograph. These moments go beyond what the eye can see and relies more on transcending with your senses.
On these rare occasions I will actually go deeper with my editing to give a more dreamlike effect to my art to transport you, the viewer, into that fantastical land of mystical creatures and unimaginable possibilities. So you can feel what we felt.
This style of editing applies an impasto oil painting brush stoke texture to the image. As you peer closely at the image you will see thousands of tiny brush strokes dancing across the scene. Swaying, bending, and swirling, a graceful ballet choreographed by the unseen hands of nature.
The swirling patterns create a sense of dynamic motion, as if the entire cosmos is in flux. The swirling forms and vivid colors evoke a sense of wonder, longing, and introspection, inviting you to step into a world where reality and imagination intertwine in a mesmerizing dance.
