Autumn's Elegy No. 1 is a mesmerizing macro shot of a withered Echinacea plant in the heart of a spring rainstorm, framed by the vibrant hues of autumn leaves on the ground. Autumn's Elegy is a stunning reminder of the beauty that can be found even in death. The echinacea plant's petals are still vibrantly colored, even though it is not the same purple hue they normally showcase and they are no longer alive. The freshly fallen rain and natural lighting casts an intense brilliance in color that adds to the sense of life and vitality, even though the plant itself is dead. The contrast between the dead plant and the leaves creates a sense of tension and drama, which is further enhanced by the stormy weather. The overall effect is a powerful and moving meditation on the beauty of life and death.

Autumn's Elegy was captured without the use of Photoshop and showcases the drama that can be captured with just the right perspective and the skill of the photographer knowing how to use their camera. 

When I go out with my macro lens it makes me look at the world in a completely new way. On the day I captured these images, it was dark, and rainy, and cold. And yet, the colors were brilliant, and rich. I started photographing the beautiful new crocus blossoms of spring. And then I saw the old echinacea plants. All dried up and dead.

Normally I wouldn’t take a second glance at them, but this day, I saw them completely differently.
I could finally see the beauty in their death.
